مبارزۀ طبقاتی (class struggle)
اختلاف و کشمکش بین طبقات مختلف جامعه. مارکس در بیانیۀ حزب کمونیستمی نویسد: «تاریخِ کلیۀ جوامعی که تاکنون وجود داشته اند تاریخ مبارزۀ طبقاتی است». اما شمول این حکم بر بعضی جوامع قید و شرط هایی دارد، یعنی جوامعی که در آن ها طبقاتی وجود دارد که ماهیت آن ها حاصل مناسباتی غیر از شیوه های تولید اقتصادی است. یکی از مسایل مناقشه برانگیز در مارکسیسم جدید این است که آیا در جوامع سرمایه داری پیشرفته با تشدید تدریجی مبارزه طبقاتی روبروئیم یا «بورژوازدگی» طبقات کارگری نقش انقلابی آن ها را نابود می کند.

کشف طبقه و مبارزه طبقاتی قبل از پیدایش مارکسیسم صورت گرفت و مورخین و اقتصاددانان و جامعه شناسان مترقی و حتی بورژوایی به وجود طبقات در جامعه و مبارزه طبقاتی بین آن ها پی برده بودند، ولی تئوری علمی مبارزه طبقاتی را کارل مارکس و فردریک انگلس تدوین نمودند و اهمیت آن را به مثابه نیروی محرکه جوامع منقسم به طبقات متخاصم ثابت کردند و نشان دادند که بالاخره این مبارزه از طریق انقلاب سوسیالیستی و استقرار دیکتاتوری پرولتاریا به از بین بردن هر نوع طبقه و ایجاد جامعهٔ بدون طبقات یعنی جامعه کمونیستی می انجامد.
Tension or antagonism which exists in society due to competing socioeconomic interests
Class conflict, also referred to as class struggle and class warfare, is the political tension and economic antagonism that exists in society consequent to socio - economic competition among the social classes or between rich and poor.
The forms of class conflict include direct violence such as wars for resources and cheap labor, assassinations or revolution; indirect violence such as deaths from poverty and starvation, illness and unsafe working conditions; and economic coercion such as the threat of unemployment or the withdrawal of investment capital; or ideologically, by way of political literature. Additionally, political forms of class warfare include: legal and illegal lobbying, and bribery of legislators.
The social - class conflict can be direct, as in a dispute between labour and management such as an employer's industrial lockout of their employees in effort to weaken the bargaining power of the corresponding trade union; or indirect such as a workers' slowdown of production in protest of unfair labor practices like low wages and poor workplace conditions.
In the political and economic philosophies of Karl Marx and Mikhail Bakunin, class struggle is a central tenet and a practical means for effecting radical social and political changes for the social majority.
